I'm sorry for your loss. I've lost older friends as well; in one case, I visited her several times in her nursing home after the stroke robbed her of the ability to speak.

I hope she got something out of it, but I also went for me.

At some point, I plan to write a post about what it means to love, when the person you loved is no longer the same.

Had I gone to see him, I would have had some perspective on this, unfortunately I didn't. Can't wait to read your perspective

We lost two of ours this weekend, to suicide. Not old timers, but "repeat newcomers." It is devastating. But brings the group closer, as you witnessed.

"Love and service." Jerry sounds like he embodied that.

He was exactly that Jackie. So sorry to hear about the two, it's so sad that it's just part of the gig for us.
