I read this morning that there were 5 bombing attacks in Baghdad and just before casually moving on to the next moment of my life I started thinkning.
Can you imagine what life must be like over there? (Yes, I understand life stunk before as well, but I just cannot imagine living in SF worrying about whether another bomb is going to blow up. Maybe using Google Local Satellite maps and doing a scattergram of bombings to help me determine the safest place to go "do lunch".)
I also thought to myself, I think I'm getting oblivous to it. Since the killings are coming in small, frequent doses it's like I ask myself each morning: "OK other than car bombings in Iraq, what's going on?"
I absolutely marvel at the fact that I live in a country where I would be punished maybe even expelled from school for fighting, but war is okay. I live in a country that when I see 4 and 5 year old boys playing very roughly and even hitting each other, I hear "Boys will be boys." and yet a few years later they are punished at school for being boys.
Killing someone isn't natural. It can be rationalized but its unnatural.
Can somebody please pass me an Oscars ballot?
